Shoot supervision
Shoot with Spydercam, Los Angeles
I was asked as VFX supervisor to put together a methodology to shoot motion controlled repeatable flying shots of two American football teams, in fast action on green screen, and create two large full CG environments around them. All in eight weeks, including pre prod, previz, shoot and post. I set up a very experimental shoot around Spydercam’s Talon rig mounted with a semi automated head, in a 60x40x8m green screen in Los Angeles, in order to produce repeatable action and clean plates. After days and nights of intense work, camera matching was finally successful, stitching together three camera resets in order to simulate a long continuous shot. The sequence is made of three separate actions, between which the hero player changes clothes. In order to create large detailed environments in such a short time frame, I hired a panoramic specialist to shoot several 24k HDR 360s which we blended spherically for photogrammetric reconstruction and texturing of elongated environments. These were two entirely innovative techniques for which my team and I set up bespoke photogrametric and camera blending rigs.

Direction – Art Direction
Client: Bvlgari
During the time I was represented at Happy Finish, I was tasked with directing these two promos for Bvlgari. I pitched to the client with a few iterations of my treatment, moodboard and storyboard. My main proposal was to portray and enhance the light-playing nature of their jewellery through delicately staged caustic lights.
I then proceeded to making these two clips with the help of a small team consisting of two modellers and a producer. I was responsible for client communication and satisfaction, art direction, team leading, and achieved the look development and lighting/compositing.
Client: CymaHere I was asked to storyboard and find the right stylisation for this commercial for client Cyma. I liaised with a Creative on the client side and was helped by a modeller and a producer.
I was responsible for the editing/camera work as well as the look development for this piece. I also put together an interesting workflow in order to produce a very shallow depth of field along with strong motion blur, all in 3D, within reasonable processing times.

Previz and editing
Bavaria previz and look dev
For this 1 min ad featuring an intrepid water drop character, I sat for a week with Bonkers director Matthijs van Heijningen editing and previz’ing simultaneously, on a home made Maya/Final Cut setup. We produced an effective previz which the shoot adhered to closely, as shown in the final product below.
